To all out there in music land, Breaking Bands Festival have an announcement to make.
We are extremely saddened to announce that Breaking Bands Festival will not be going ahead as scheduled in 2021 from the previously planned 2020 line-up. There is no way, in the current circumstances, that any festival organiser could or would commit to putting a festival together this year with the way Covid-19 has continued to take so many lives.
Obviously we are absolutely gutted but we have to think about the safety of our staff, the members of all the bands, the media and our very loyal customers when we say we feel there is no way we can host a safe festival in 2021.
As we have always done, we took on board every comment and piece of feedback we received not only from our stage crew and team but also from a survey we sent out to you all at the start of the year and that is how we have come to this decision.
All tickets will be automatically rolled over to next year.
There is some good news to follow this…
We have confirmed the dates for next year as Thursday 26th to Monday 30th May 2022. We are very pleased to announce an extra 2 days of live music making next years festival 5 whole days of music to make up for the loss of the last 2 festivals. There will be no extra charge for these extra 2 days for tickets or camping. We will have some very exciting announcements about these 2 very special extra days in the coming weeks and months ahead.
So what next for 2021? Well, originally we were going to put on a virtual festival filmed live on site but again we do not feel this can be done safely without putting lives at risk so that will not be happening.
However, we will be having some kind of online weekend during festival weekend this year. More will be revealed about that in due course.
Following on from that we do need your help. We have all seen how venues have been struggling with their running costs still needing to be paid while they are closed. The festival is in the same position now. With no festival for 2 years that means no running revenue to pay bills to cover the event. Things such as website hosting, accountant fees, business fees, lost deposits from some suppliers, bank fees are all still being racked up so we are asking for the help from the BBFest Community.
We are not asking for a handout though. We will be launching a fundraiser very soon with some very special items. Brand new design t-shirts, sweatshirts, polo tops, jackets and more. But there is more…
We are launching Breaking Bands Festival Community, a CIC (Community Interest Company) in which we will be offering FREE shares in Breaking Bands Festival to our loyal community. We’ll be sending details about how you can own a piece of Breaking Bands Festival, the fundraiser and the online weekend very soon but for now we just wanted to get you right up to date as we always do.
